Current Activities
Paperworks has embarked on Stage Three of our development strategy. A recent grant from Disability ACT, rent support from the Belconnen Art Centre and equipment from Christian Schools Australia have enabled us to launch this phase. Thank you everyone!
Paperworks once again offers weekly socially inclusive workshops at the cost of a nominal materials fee to empower participants through the development of new craft skills and the fostering of new friendships. Like our previous programs, we hope to engage socially marginalised people from all over our community.
Each term, two workshops per week will be offered, so placements are limited. Please contact Marja Rouse to find out more about our program and the skills development on offer.
However, this is only half the good news story. This year, Paperworks has also commenced with a manufacturing studio where some of the artisans trained through participation in previous programs are employed on a part-time rotation basis. We are particularly excited by the fact that the humble craft of papermaking can be used to encourage a sense of self-worth and achievement for our deserving artisans.
